Victorian Day

In Primary 7 our children had a wonderful, if somewhat strict, day when they dressed up as children from the Victorian Times. There were some imaginative costumes with children dressing as street urchins, maids, wealthier youngsters, a match seller and even a chimney sweep. The children looked amazing!

Lessons began with an examination of hands and fingernails because all Victorian school children knew of the need for cleanliness. This was followed by alphabet drill, a handwriting lesson and arithmetic drill. Unfortunately, a few of the children were disruptive and had to face the consequences by standing in the corner and facing the wall!

Other activities through the day included learning the rules of some familiar and some new playground games and there was also an opportunity to make Victorian toys.

Great day all round!
