Boys Football Team Win The Mullen Cup
On Friday 8 May the boys’ football team travelled to Lurgan Junior High School for the end of season Mullen Cup competition. This tournament is the show piece tournament of the Mid Ulster Schools’ Football Association’s season. The top 8 teams from the three leagues come together to compete for the Mullen Cup, four schools from the Large Schools League, two from the Medium Schools League and two from the small schools league. At Moyallon we are classified as a medium school.
In the group matches the scores were:
Moyallon 3 : 0 Bleary P S
Moyallon 1 : 1 Bocombra P S
Moyallon 2 : 0 Millington P S
These results saw Moyallon top their group and go forward to play Edenderry P S school in the semi-final. After a hard fought game Moyallon came out on top winning 2 : 0. This meant moving forward to a final with Warringstown P S. Both teams played very well in a very close game but a goal about mid-way through the game was enough for Moyallon to lift the trophy.
“I am very proud of the boys who have played some great football throughout the season. They fought hard throughout this tournament and were very deserving of lifting the trophy at the end of the day. As a team we have two more competitions this season, on Wednesday 13 May we are competing in the Tandragee Christian Aid 5 -a-side tournament and on Thursday 14 May we have a chance of winning “Evo Soccers” league title.”
