Welcome

Welcome to Moyallon Primary School

Our school is in a rural setting 3 miles from Portadown on the main Gilford Road.

The present school was opened in 1994 replacing the original school which stood on the site from 1932. The present building was renovated in 2006 when two new classrooms were built and the assembly hall/PE hall was extended. A year later following purchase of additional land a new car park and all-weather sports pitch were added.

At Moyallon we have seven modern classrooms catering for 205 pupils divided into seven single primary age classes. There are 12 members of the teaching staff who are committed to providing a first class education for all of the pupils in our care. The teachers are ably supported by a team of Classroom Assistants and Ancillary Staff. What we teach is based on the Northern Ireland Curriculum, we believe in teaching our children the skills they will need for the next stage of their education and we have our foundation set firmly in a strong Christian Ethos.

Moyallon is a busy school and we believe that much can be learnt both in and out of the classroom. As a consequence visitors are frequently invited into school and there are many occasions when we take our pupils out into the community to further their learning opportunities. We are committed to providing a welcoming school where everyone, both young and old, are respected and valued. “An inclusive and supportive ethos permeates the school; the staff places a strong emphasis on the development of the children’s self-worth and confidence, and on the celebration of their work and achievements.” DENI Inspection Report April 2012.
