Success criteria:

  • Understand the difference between formal and informal language.

  • Change/select examples of formal and informal writing.

  • Edit sentences/passages to suit formal and informal styles.

  • Create/write a formal letter

Grammar - Capital Letter revision

 

Capital letters are used at the beginning of sentences and for the pronoun I. They are also used for many more things – higlighted on the poster in your pack.

Thursday Literacy Reading Activities

 

You will be complete some excellent Literacy Tasks today which will include your favourite books and characters from them! There will be NO WRITTEN NUMERACY WORK, just Fun Literacy activities.

 

Listed below are the activities that can be completed today:

 

  1. Describing your Character – Insert some powerful adjectives describing your favourite characters.
  2. How are you similar to your favourite Character 3 points and draw a picture of your favourite character.

  3. How are people you know similar to your favourite characters - Give examples of people you know who are like your favourite characters – pick 3 people, 3 characters and write why they are similar.

  4. Write a blurb for your favourite book look at the examples on the PowerPoint and detailed on the page. You can create your own blurb for your favourite book, can you make it a lot more exciting?!

  5. Design your own bookmark – examples on notes below and a piece of card is inserted into your pack for you to complete it on.

  6. Book Hunt – Inserted into your pack is a book hunt. Please follow instructions on the sheet. Send in your answers via SEESAW!

  7. OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES – World Book Day Wordsearch and Crossword

  8. World Book Day – Dress Up Challenge – if you haven’t already read the poster/note for this week’s competition, please check it out. There is a special prize for some class winners!

WAU – Titanic

 

This week will be the last week we use our Titanic Grids. Task are as follows: 

 

  1. Ice Warnings – Read the passage and answer the questions that follow.

  2. Iceberg Ahead – information sheet and possible science experiment to try at home. All details on the pack. Links to help are below. 

  3. The Collision – read the passage and answer the questions that follow

  4. 1 Titanic Grid Activity – If you wish, you could complete one more activity from your Titanic Activity Grid.

RE – Eric Liddell

 

Over the next few weeks we will be looking at the story of Eric Liddell. It highlights someone who used their talents, but also honoured God and stood up for what he believed in at the same time.
