Literacy

 

Spelling sounds – Phonics with ‘d’ sound

  • Learn spellings daily.

  • Complete an activity from your *Spelling Menu – choose 3 different activities*

 

Reading

  • Read a range of texts, e.g. fiction, non-fiction etc and record in diary.

  • 15 minutes per day (4 times for the week)

  • Complete AR quizzes – login, in pack (link to website below). 

 

Daily Literacy

  • Complete days 69-72 in books. (answers included in packs).

 

Handwriting – optional – in your booklet

  • Complete activity level 6 – 4 – The Beetle copy carefully using joined writing. Remember to take care of the diagonal joins. 

 

Additional Activities

  • This week I have inserted additional activities into the Literacy Home Booklet rather than the Numeracy booklet. I thought it would nice for a change and the them is St Patricks.

  • Inserted into the pack is – Adverb pages for Thursday, St Patrick Story – fill in the blanks, Wordsearch, Crossword

Written task: Complete questions SQUARE and CIRCLE sections.

SQAURE:

  • Copy out each playscript line.
  • In the Stage directions, underline/highlight any adverbs or adverbial phrases in red and verbs in blue.

For example:

Jack: (Jack looks up in disbelief) I’m clumsy? You fell down too. Sisters who needs them

 

CIRCLE:

  • Copy out each line and add your own stage direction, using verbs, adverbs and adverbial phrases.
  • Remember the stage direction can be at the beginning, in the middle of the sentence or at the end.

 

An example:

Jack: Can’t believe mum is making us fetch water again.

Changes to:

Jack: Can’t believe mum is making us fetch water again. (exhales and rolls eyes)

Friday -  Lesson 4 – Add stage directions to playscript

  • Read through script first to ensure your directions are relevant and effective.
