Yesterday, the Education Minister, Peter Weir, announced his intentions to allow all pupils to return to school on the week beginning 31st August pending agreement from medical professionals. Detailed guidance for schools is expected to be published on 12th August however I want to give you advance notice that Moyallon Primary School will be immediately ready to implement the Minister’s plans to get all pupils back to school.
Further to this, I would like to provide clarification on the week of the 24th August. Plans for this week were outlined in detail in our ‘COVID-19 School Restart Information Booklet’ that was distributed in June. If the new guidance is approved, we intend to use this week as an induction week that can allow the pupils to return to school in smaller numbers and begin to learn the new routines and safety measures that will be in place. Please see below for class specific information:
24th – 29th August – Induction Week
P1 – Please refer to the P1 Start Information document (due early next week)
P2-P6 – There will be no change to days or start and finish times.
P7 – All P7 pupils to return to school on the 24th August for the full week. Start and finish times will remain the same.
Following the Induction Week, all pupils will return to school on Tuesday 1st September. Further details about this week will be communicated when guidance has been received from the Department for Education.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding at this time.
Mr A Davidson
