Primary 5
The painting shows an event from ancient times. It shows the family of Darius, a Persian king, begging for mercy before Alexander the Great after The Battle of Issus in 333 B.C. The picture was painted Paolo Veronese for a wealthy man between 1565- 1567. We learned that the artist may have painted some of the wealthy man's family members into the picture. He also decided to paint the people wearing clothes and carrying weapons from the sixteenth century. |
